Galentine's Day Craft - Crafting DIY Candy Heart Banners Together

Let’s face it—life can get overwhelming. But here’s a secret weapon to battle the stress: crafting with friends. There’s something magical about gathering your favorite people, breaking out the supplies, and seeing your creativity come to life. It’s like group therapy—but with glue and scissors. And in the end, you’re left with not just a cute craft, but a bunch of laughs and new memories.

So, why not give it a try with a group project that works for the novice to the craftspert!

The Benefits of Crafting Together

We all know crafting can be therapeutic, but crafting with friends takes it to another level. Here’s why:

  • Creative connection boosts your mood. The act of making something taps into your creative energy, and sharing that experience with friends can create feelings of joy and accomplishment.  No seriously, this is scientific fact!

  • Working with your hands has calming, meditative benefits. Crafting can help you slow down and live in the moment—especially when you're surrounded by good vibes and laughter.

  • Group settings encourage motivation and sharing ideas. If you’re ever stuck on a design decision, someone in the group is bound to offer a good suggestion.

  • Laughter and creativity naturally bond people. When you work side by side on something fun, you create connections that go beyond just the project.

Galentine’s Day Craft: DIY Candy Heart Banners

Let’s dive into a project that’s perfect for a Galentine’s get-together and has Valentine’s Day banner options for all different craftabilities. You can keep it simple and easy or step it up—all while you chat and snack on heart-shaped cookies and maybe a little bubbly.

Materials You’ll Need:

  • 110 lb Printed Candy Hearts Banners (3)

  • Scissors

  • Paper cutter (optional)

  • Hole punch

  • Twine, string, or ribbon

  • 65 lb Cardstock in coordinating color (optional)

  • Foam tape (optional if you want to add dimension)

Basic Instructions:

If you want to keep it simple, just print on cardstock, cut out the flags on the outer edge, punch holes at the top left and right, and string them onto ribbon or twine.

Next Level Instructions:

  1. Get banners printed at a shop on 110 lb paper.

  2. Plan out your banners.
There are lots of ways to make a custom banner with each download, so decide how you want your banner to look.

  3. Cut one flag on the outer edge.

  4. Use the flag to trace the shape onto 65 lb cardstock.

    • Trace as many flags as you will use in your banner.

  5. Cut printed flags on the INNER edge.
    Don’t forget your plan!

  6. Layer the printed flag on cardstock flags.

    • This is where the foam tape comes in if you want to add dimension between layers.
